About

Samir Zakour was born and raised in Old Acre and worked in the old city as a fisherman. Ever since he was a kid, he appreciated the beauty of Acre and the rich history of its historic alleys and buildings.

In 2009, Mr. Zakour purchased an old house, located in the alleys of the Old City and began renovating it. During the renovations, he discovered, to his surprise that the house he had purchased was housed above the ruins of a 240-year-old Ottoman Khan. Mr. Zakour decided to clear the ruins from the Khan and carry out restoration and preservation work there. After many months of restoration work, the beautiful and restored frame of the Khan was discovered, and then Mr Zakour decided to turn the Khan into a boutique guesthouse. The rooms have also been carefully renovated and restored to their original state, Deep in the heart of the historic city of Acre, this 240 year-old Ottoman Khan was painstakingly renovated, and their authentic and original features now complemented with modern and luxurious facilities and conveniences.

El-Khan offers three boutique suites. The suites are air-conditioned and come with free Wi-Fi, LCD TV, a mini fridge, a private bathroom, and a hot-tub. Each is uniquely furnished with a mother-of-pearl Syrian furniture, and maintains the original stone arches and walls.
